Andong Zzimdak: A Taste Of Authentic Andong, South Korea

By  |  0 Comments

The South Korean jjimdak specialty restaurant opens its first Southeast Asian outlet here in Singapore.

Fans of Korean food and culture can now enjoy the same experience without having to travel to Korea itself. With over 65 outlets in South Korea, Andong Zzimdak brings to Singapore its authentic jjimdak dishes. As the first restaurant in Singapore to specialise in the jjimdak dish, Andong Zzimdak Singapore aims to replicate the original menu in Korea as closely as possible. To ensure an authentic taste and experience, the chefs at the Singapore outlet have received a two-week long immersive training at the Gangnam-gu oulet in Seoul; while the sauces used in the jjimdak broths are directly imported from Seoul every month.

As a representative dish from Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, the jjimdak is a braised chicken dish (reminiscent of the ones found in Chinese food) that is marinated in a sweet-and-savoury broth made from ganjang (Korean soy) and mulyeot (Korean corn syrup). The homely dish is also served with carrots and potatoes on a bed of thick and chewy sweet potato noodles, making it a hearty traditional meal that local Koreans often share with friends and loved ones.

Located at the bustling basement floor of Raffles City Shopping Centre, Andong Zzimdak Singapore offers a range of dishes served in portions meant for sharing. Customers may choose from four jjimdak dishes on the menu – Andong Jjimdak, Boneless Jjimdak, Seafood Jjimdak and Mayak Jjimdak (Spicy).
