It’s time to take charge of your health with the #My1stPapTest!

The 365 Cancer Prevention Society (365CPS) is back with its free cervical cancer screening campaign, running now until March 15, 2025. Regular health screenings can provide peace of mind and early detection, so don’t miss out on this opportunity.

What’s the Big Deal About Cervical Cancer?

Cervical cancer is the 10th most common cancer in Singapore, with over 200 new cases each year. Did you know that 99 percent of these cases are linked to the human papilloma virus (HPV)?

Early detection is key, and that’s where #My1stPapTest comes in. The campaign targets women who are sexually active or have engaged in sexual intercourse and hold a valid blue or orange CHAS card or the Public Assistance card.

Symptoms to Watch Out For

Cervical cancer can often show no symptoms in its early stages. However, some warning signs include:

  • Vaginal bleeding after intercourse
  • Irregular bleeding between periods or after menopause
  • Watery and bloody vaginal discharge with foul odor
  • Pelvic pain during intercourse

If you have multiple sexual partners, a family history of cervical cancer, smoke, or rely solely on oral contraceptives, you might be at higher risk. But don’t worry—regular screenings can catch pre-cancerous abnormalities early!

Mr. Andrew Soh, Assistant Director for Fundraising, Marketing, and Volunteer Management at 365CPS, emphasises the importance of screenings: “The current cervical cancer screening rate in Singapore is only 48 percent, far below the national target of 70 percent. Through #My1stPapTest, we hope to encourage and empower women to prioritize themselves and achieve peace of mind through regular cervical cancer screening. Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable when detected early. Together, we can work towards eliminating this disease.”
