The Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai has launched a new ‘Shanghai Dream’ package that looks to indulge guests with a sunset cruise, cultural visits and Mandarin Oriental’s Executive Club privileges together with suite accommodation and service.

Guests can look forward to enjoying spectacular views of the Huangpu River and iconic city skyline from their suite. The package includes an ‘Oriental Art and Culture Journey’ to the Aurora Museum to view thousands of ancient Chinese cultural relics, including jade artifacts and Buddhist sculptures. In the evening, guests will enjoy a waterborne tour of Shanghai on board a luxury yacht cruise.

The Shanghai Dream package is valid until 31 December 2015 and priced from CNY4,300, plus 15% service charge. A minimum two-night stay is required.

Malaysians get more comfortable with planning and booking travel online.

According to GfK Consumer Travel Tracker research, 34 percent of Malaysian travellers are relying solely on the internet to search and book travel.

40 percent of those surveyed (out of 500 respondents) prefer to use travel agency websites, followed by online travel agents (33 percent) and airline websites (30 percent).

Selinna Chin, Managing Director for GfK in Malaysia shared that the finding reflects a higher dependency on the internet during the entire travel booking process. She opines that “…consumers can easily get hold of useful information, not to mention competitive packages and rates even if the service providers are far away in the destination country…”

Not surprisingly, 24 percent of travellers say they also rely on recommendations from their personal circle including friends, family and colleagues.

Malaysians tend to book trips about three to four months in advance of their actual travel with 66 percent preferring bundled packages (includes both ticket and accommodation). The majority of holidays booked by Malaysians is for family travel (36 percent), rest and relaxation (27 percent) and packaged holidays (24 percent).

Favourite locations include China, Hong Kong, Korea and Thailand.
