Apple’s latest version of its iPhone now comes in two sizes, and is bigger and thinner than before.

While everyone has been anticipating the debut of Apple’s new iPhone 6, one thing to get excited about its launch is the iPhone 6 Plus, which measures 5.5-inches, making it the biggest iPhone to date. A larger display means users no longer have to strain their eyes to read or worry about making typographical errors as compared to the earlier and smaller iterations of the iPhones manufactured so far. Completing its sleek design is the iPhone 6 Plus’ seamless smooth metal surface and new Retina HD display that promises a more powerful 1920 x 1080 resolution. Users can also expect higher contrast and an improved polariser for better viewing under sunlight with the phone’s new Retina HD display as claimed by Apple.

Apple will also introduce its latest iOS 8 operating system which will be pre-installed in all iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones. One new update to look out for is Apple’s Health app which the health-conscious will find useful in collating their health and fitness data all in one place. Users can also create an emergency health card with the app to store important information like blood type or allergies.

As for those who prefer something slightly smaller yet substantial, there’s the iPhone 6, which offers a 4.7-inch screen with 1334 × 750 Retina HD display. The iPhone 6 just like the 6 Plus comes with the same bells and whistles but unlike the 6 PLus lacks the Optical Image Stabilisation function that comes with its new 8-megapixel iSight camera.

In terms of battery longevity, both iPhones are built to be more power-efficient, running on new A8 chips that promise higher performance even while powering new features. The iPhone 6 Plus can sustain up to an approximate of 12 hours worth of 4G LTE browsing time while the iPhone 6 is able to run up to 10 hours.

The new iPhone 6 and 6 Plus come in three colours – gold, silver and space grey as well as three capacity sizes – 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB. The new iPhones will be made available for purchase from 19 September 2014 and prices vary as per the three Telcos’ plans.

Apart from the launch of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has also revealed its first ever wearable technology – the Apple watch, which will be made available only in early 2015. The Apple watch goes beyond timekeeping, and functions also as a music player, a health and fitness tracker, a communications device, and even allows you to make secure payments via Apple Pay.
