Mizuno Ekiden Race Returns This July

Back for a second installment this 16 July, the Mizuno Ekiden race will take place at The Promontory @ Marina Bay at 4pm.

Following its successful inauguration in 2015, the Mizuno Ekiden Race event this year is set to be Singapore’s first full-fledged Ekiden race. Targeting to attract 5,000 runners, the relay-styled long distance race will provide runners the platform to display Japanese values of teamwork, perseverance and the ability to perform in intense and challenging situations.

Runners will participate in teams of four with the first runners of each team donning a traditional tasuki sash. The sash will be passed over to each subsequent runner and concludes when the fourth runner crosses the finishing line.

While waiting for the final runner to finish off the race, the rest of the team members may head over to the Matsuri Race Village for some Japanese gourmet dishes including ramen and desserts. To add on to the Japanese festival atmosphere, an exciting line-up of cultural activities will be available for all supporters and members of the public to participate in.

Runners can register in teams of four across three categories – the Open Category (42.195km), the Open Category (21.1km) and the Corporate Category (21.1km). Winning teams can look forward to receiving cash prizes (starting at SGD 500) as well as vouchers for their respective categories.
