More NLB digital offerings available during SG Circuit Breaker period
Children, parents and readers can access more digital resources from the National Library Board (NLB) during the extended COVID-19 Circuit Breaker period.

For and with your children:
NLB has streamlined bite-sized activities and reading resources to explore and bond with younger children. This includes weekly digital storytelling sessions, common topics for conversations, tips for parents as well as DIY activities for children to get curious, learn and tinker together. There is a new “Kids! Skip the Line!” collection of books. These books are specially selected copies of titles set aside for immediate borrowing. Instead of the usual 21 days, “Kids! Skip the Line!” books are only available for a loan period of 7 days. Patrons can borrow only one “Kids! Skip the Line!” book at any one time.
NLB’s S.U.R.E. programme promotes the importance of information searching and discernment to the general public. The acronym stands for Source, Understand, Research, Evaluate – four concepts that an individual should keep in mind when assessing the reliability of news. One activity under the programme is ‘Ace Your Project Work‘ , this is a resource to help primary school students improve on their project work skills by incorporating the S.U.R.E. steps.
For readers:
Readers can access 8 newspapers published by Singapore Press Holdings. All that is needed is a log in through the myLibrary IDs to access current issues, and past issues going as far back as seven to 13 days.
10 new international magazine titles including Allure, Billboard, Bon Appetit, Conde Nast Traveler, Marie Claire, Rolling Stone, The Economist, The Hollywood Reporter, The New Yorker and Wired have been added to the OverDrive collection. These eMagazines have a 21-day loan period and are on simultaneous access, which means there is no limit to the number of patrons who can borrow them at the same time.
For parents, and everyone else:
The Future of Work series provides bite-sized yet insightful talks and hands-on sessions that can help adults navigate and make sense of emerging trends synonymous with the Future Economy. Interested participants can through Go Library to receive a link to the virtual programme. Upcoming topics include Project Management Simplified, Introduction to Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, and Storytelling Using Data Visualisation.
The Time of Your Life series features informative talks and creative workshops themed “Stay Home & Read/Play/Learn” on topics relevant to those 50 years old and above. Interested participants may register through Go Library to receive a link to the virtual programme on the day of the event. Upcoming topics include Book Discussion: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R. R. Martin, Creative Storytelling: Magical Cutlery (Mandarin), and Trivia Tuesday: Singapore History.
Archives Invites is a talk series by distinguished invited speakers that traces Singapore’s social past through collections from the archives. Archives Unlocked is a talk series by staff from the National Archives of Singapore who will highlight interesting materials in the archives collection. Together, both talk series highlight the stories of our nation and allow our current and future generations to understand, explore and appreciate our common heritage. Talks are released every two weeks. The videos are accessible from NAS’ Facebook page.
