Find out how to relieve the pain of headaches with these natural remedies that actually work

With our hectic schedules, encountering painful headaches might seem to be a familiar situation, especially if you’re under stress and anxiety daily.

Believe it or not, painkillers can only do so much. The fact that you’re having regular headaches means something’s wrong with your body. It is possible that your body is missing something or you may have to switch your diet to a healthier one.

To help you overcome painful headaches, here are some tips you may want to consider:

Stay Hydrated

Cut the coffee intake as it has a dehydrating effect. Coupled with sugary drinks and alcohol and you can be sure to catch a headache regularly. If you think you’re not getting enough water, now is the right time to change your drinking habits.

Instead of drinking juice or soda, quench your thirst with a cold glass of water to keep you refreshed, energised and headache-free during the day. Be creative and put some slices of your favorite fruits in your water tumbler if you want it to have a natural fruity flavour.

Stretch and Move

If your work requires you to stay seated for a long period of time, it can lead to body tension and headache symptoms in the long run. Don’t allow yourself to be hunched over while you work in front of your computer screens.

Avoid tension headaches by taking a break every 30-60 minutes and move your neck around in a circular motion. You may want to take a short walk down the aisle, get a glass of water or go outside and enjoy some fresh air.  Don’t let your job be the cause of your regular headaches.

Change Your Diet

You may have to change your diet if you want to reduce headache pain. It is best to stay away from foods containing monosodium glutamate (MSG), tyramine (amino acid found in red wine), fermented or pickled foods and dairy products.

Load up on vegetables and fruits but watch out for avocado, banana and citrus ones since these can trigger headaches in the long run. Know what to eat and what to keep away from your kitchen to avoid consuming trigger foods in your daily diet.
