Organising a Jubilee? Here are some tips for you to consider!

Planning on celebrating your Jubilee or organising one for close friends?

It can be stressful having to plan a party to celebrate significant milestones. Instead of handling the stress on your own or ceding control to a committee of well-intention-ed friends, perhaps you might consider a solution that lets you plan for the variables but rely on a service provider that can mark out the planning milestones.

Consider working with Delegate. As our name shares, we are all about helping you – the host – focus on the important decisions and having us filter and curate partners for you to work with and throw a great event.

Delegate is an online event planning platform that guides you through the event planning journey with auto-generated checklists and suggestions of vendors to hire based on the selected event type. You can choose photographers and videographers, to venues, to florists, to fun photo booths, dessert tables, performers and even event planners who can assist.

Founders Jacqueline and Melissa are veteran party planners who have compiled their top tips to ring in your 60th birthday, retirement party or wedding anniversary. Here are their top seven tips on hosting a fun, successful event!

  • Be less mindful of your budget and make it a grand party. You’re celebrating the special moments in your life so throw (a little) caution to the wind in terms of your budget. Now is the best time to kick back and celebrate that Anniversary or Birthday because if not now, when? Consider hiring an event planner. Delegate has experienced wedding planners such as Chere Wedding Planners, Hitched Weddings and Spellbound Weddings who can help plan birthdays, anniversaries and vow renewals, too. Do not have much of a budget? Hire an event stylist who will be able to dress up the space for your celebration instead. You can also choose to focus on one aspect of décor only, such as flowers or balloons. This will make the space look festive and is definitely a more economical way to dress up a space.

  • Find the right venue. As with any parties, the right venue can make or break the mood of the party. We recommend Forlino, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse or Longtail Asian Brasserie & Bar for the splendid views. Prefer somewhere cosy or outdoors? Check out The White Rabbit, Sabio by the Sea or Prive at Chijmes for interesting venues for the day. A gorgeous space can influence the mood of the celebration and ultimately, determine how much you need to spend on décor. If you’d like a nice touch of nostalgia, how about going back to the restaurant where you first met your other half, or where the proposal took place? A party at home is as lovely, not to say intimate, as long as you have the space!
  • Focus on F&B. This is something we advocate as veteran party planners. Food and drink is the universal language that unites everyone. Have a favourite dish? Work with the restaurant chef or professional caterer to curate a special menu for the occasion.

  • Let there be cake. There’s no reason not to have cake at a party regardless of the occasion! Look through our list of stellar cake vendors such as Crummb or Teaspoon of Love who create bespoke and exquisite cakes.

  • Gift your best. Don’t spare any expense on the gifting. You (and your friends and family) deserve only the very best. Is the celebration themed around food? Gift him/her a cooking class. Still active and adventurous? Then do not hesitate to present them with an experiential gift or unique travel that he/she won’t forget!
  • Capture the celebration. Be sure to hire photographers/videographers to document the day. This is a BIG celebration and every moment should be captured. We have a list of photographers and videographers who are able to assist with capturing the memories from the special day. Whether it’s a birthday or a vow renewal, the beauty of celebrations by Active Agers is the wealth of experiences and memories that you’ve accumulated over the years. Be sure to share the significant moments with those nearest and dearest to you. Photographs and videos are a great way to share your story through the years and milestones of your life.
