We review the women’s UA Armour Mid Breathe sports bra to test out how comfortable it is and how much support it offers during a workout.

Design

The Armour Mid comes in two colours – Black and Harmony Red, and boasts a jacquard elastic underwire band with multiple “Under Armour” logos printed across. Made with polyester/elastane, the material of the sports bra is definitely of a higher quality, and feels almost like smooth neoprene that does not easily fold or wrinkle. The inner material of the sports bra is made of super smooth triple-layer HeatGear fabric which comfortably takes the shape of your chest for a next-to-skin feel. The best part about this is that the bra cups are also removable, allowing you to easily take them out to wash whenever.

The Armour Mid Breathe also comes with a skinny-strap pullover and classic racerback silhouette – great for those who want to experience a full range of motion for workouts involving the arms or back.

Featuring sporty power mesh panels from the collar to the back, the sports bra manages to offer a good amount of breathability especially at places where perspiration collects the most. Even after a 30-minute workout, there were no unsightly sweat stains on the bra which tend to be most visible at the chest and back. On top of that, the sports bra features UA’s signature Moisture Transport System technology which helps to wick sweat away from the body. Together, these features do quite a bit to keep you relatively drier and more comfortable during your workout.

Support

At first glance, the Armour Mid’s underwire band appeared too loose and stretchy to be able to offer much support. However, given that the Armour Mid was designed to offer mid-impact support, it was surprisingly able to provide more than adequate support for higher intensity exercises such as jumping jacks and lunge jumps. The underwire band was also able to secure the bra onto the body such that it stays put even with full ranges of motion. While it may seem only suitable for lighter exercises and static workouts, the Armour Mid certainly managed to deliver more than expected.

Because it is also less constricting than a high-impact sports bra, changing out of the Armour Mid after a sweaty workout becomes much less of a chore. Though it would most likely not be suitable to wear during a run, the Armour Mid is definitely suitable for those who do more weight-lifting, home workouts or gym classes.

Sizing

The Armour Mid is available in sizes XS to L and would fit A to C cups best. For a rough gauge, a standard B cup would nicely fit the Armour Mid in size M.

Overall, the quality of the Armour Mid’s material is definitely on the superior side, and the amount of support it provides is suffice for most high intensity workouts other than running. The sports bra would be most suitable for active women with a fitness regime that involves more weight-lifting and static movements. If you’re looking for a sports bra that offers greater support to wear during your runs, you could consider UA’s high compression sports bra range instead.

The Women’s UA Armour Mid Breathe sports bra retails at SGD 59 and is available at all Under Armour brand houses and shop-in-shops.
