Singapore Motorshow 2016 Recap

The recently concluded Singapore Motor Show appears to have sparked off a string of things to come for this year.

And quite interestingly, the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums for the Category B segment has started to ease off a bit which can only bode well for the industry. At the show, the distributors have introduced a slew of all-new models, here are some of the noteworthy mentions from the pivotal car event:

The Lexus Showcase was one such example, where they unveiled their new naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 Lexus GS F Sedan. Along with the GS Turbo and all-new IS Turbo, Lexus also gave us a glimpse of their luxury flagship, the GS 350 Luxury and the GS Hybrid Luxury, due for launch in the second quarter of 2016.

Volkswagen lined up a convincing fleet of their own for the year, featuring the new Passat, as well as an impressive range of Tourans and Golfs. The resilient Passat 1.8 TSI should be expected to feature prominently in its category for this year. Stay tuned for a Variant model of the Passat as well.

For car distributor Wearnes, Infiniti presented their powerful 5.6-litre V8 QX80, the 7-seater luxury SUV that’s surely the next big thing in Singapore, literally. But the other massive attraction came in the form of the new 2.0-litre Range Rover Evoque as well as the new Jaguar XF.

For Category A (cars with an engine capacit of under 1,600 cc), there are some interesting developments as well.

At the Mazda booth, the new Mazda 2 Sedan was revealed to the public, including the much-anticipated CX-3. Mazda is highly slated to make their CX-3 available in Singapore, Q3 of 2016.

Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) lovers will take some time to consider the iconic Suzuki Vitara, one of the true 4WDS deserving of its SUV status locally.

At Renault, the 1.5-litre dCi turbocharged Kadjar offers another alternative to the popular crossover segment.

We honestly can’t wait for these new models to arrive, which we’re are pretty sure would appeal to you readers due to their utilitarian nature.
