Quaich Bar opens second whisky bar in Singapore

Whisky lovers rejoice!

Quaich Bar, a pioneer of the Singapore whisky scene since 2007, has opened their second bar – Quaich Bar @ South Beach. The new bar is located in the retail area of the South Beach development, near to City Hall.

Quaich Bar @ South Beach offers over 500 labels of whiskies, mostly from Scotland. For those looking for Japanese, Taiwanese or American labels, fear not, the bar serves them as well. Staff at this bar were sent for a one-week training course at a distillery, giving them experience in understanding the process involved in the production of whisky.

We round up their opening specials and whiskies services for those intending to give Quaich Bar @ South Beach a try.

Opening celebration

Groups of 6 to 10 persons can enjoy an introductory tasting set (S$25 per pax) comprising of 5 whiskies until 31 October, 2016. The set includes drams from, Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old, Ledaig 10 Year Old, Paul John Edited, Springbank 10 Year Old and the Tomintoul 12 Year Old.

Whisky tasting sets

Quaich Bar @ South Beach offers themed tasting sets for beginners to get started on their whisky journeys and for veterans to explore more labels and tastes to expand their repertoire.

These sets include the:

• “Flavours of Single Malts” and the “World of Single Malts”– various single malt drams of differing flavour profiles
• “Springbank Vertical”: 10, 15, 18, 21Year Old drams
• “Sherry Traditions”: various whiskies aged in sherry casks
• “Treasures of the Highlands (also known as the Bunnahabhain Vertical)”: 12, 18, 25 Year Old dram

Tasting set themes change regularly and ‘dram-mers” can check when they are at the bar. Prices change depending on the tasting set as well.

“By The Dram” Programme

Quaich Bar started the “By The Dram” programme so that more drinkers can have a fair chance to taste rare and collectible whisky releases by distilleries. Customers can enquire at the bar for the list of whiskies available through the programme. These whiskies are sold only by the dram.

Quaich Bar has made the programme special by keeping the price of the dram based on “as close to” the original release price and not the price after the whisky has appreciated in value.

Whisky drinkers can look forward to rare expressions such as the Springbank 16 Year Old Local Barley and the Kilkerran Calvados Single Cask. The former expression has only 9,000 bottles available worldwide and Quaich Bar is selling a dram for S$38.

Quaich Bar Private Cask Selections 

Quaich Bar has also made available a selection of whiskies from their own private label.

The selection includes the following whiskies:

• Glenglassaugh 40 Years old Vintage 1973: S$156 per dram, S$1,800 per bottle
• Cadenhead Bowmore 12 Years Old: S$33 per dram, S$380 per bottle
