Stay CLEAR of Gastric Cancer with Free Screening from 365 Cancer Prevention Society

By  |  0 Comments

The 365 Cancer Prevention Society (365CPS) is once again spearheading efforts to combat gastric cancer with its third annual “Stay CLEAR of Gastric Cancer” campaign.

Running from 1 October to 30 November 2024, the campaign offers free screenings to encourage early detection, crucial for treating this often late-diagnosed disease.

The initiative targets individuals aged 40 and above holding valid blue or orange CHAS cards, urging them to register for screenings through the 365CPS website.

Gastric cancer, often undetected in its early stages, presents serious risks if diagnosed late. In Singapore, data shows that while 90 percent of patients diagnosed at stage one have good outcomes, survivorship plummets to less than 20 percent at stage four.

Gastric cancer can be cured if detected early, and patients can continue to live a fulfilling life.

Mr. Andrew Soh, Assistant Director of Fundraising, Marketing, and Volunteer Management at 365CPS, stresses the importance of early detection

The campaign includes a straightforward screening process involving a simple blood test, which is minimally invasive and takes less than a minute. Those showing abnormalities will have follow-up consultations scheduled, and if necessary, referrals to public health settings for further investigation or treatment. This dedicated approach ensures that any early signs of gastric cancer are promptly addressed, giving patients a better chance at effective treatment and recovery.

To participate, eligible members of the public who are aged 40 and above and hold a valid blue or orange CHAS card can register for the campaign by 30 November 2024 through the 365CPS website. After registering, participants will undergo a pre-screening consultation followed by the GASTROClear test at 365CPS screening partners’ facilities. If the test indicates any abnormalities, the clinic will arrange a review with a doctor.

The campaign also seeks public support through donations on Giving.sg, aiming to fund these essential screenings and consultations.

Contributions can make a significant difference:

  • for SGD 30, you support early detection
  • for SGD100, you cover consultation fees for two beneficiaries
  • for SGD200, you provide a consultation and blood test for one perso
  • and for SGD300, you fully sponsor a gastric cancer screening for one beneficiary.

All donations are eligible for 250 percent tax relief, and any excess funds will be directed to supporting the Society’s tri-fold mission.
