SG50 Cook Off for active agers organised by SHATEC and the USA Poultry and Egg Council

In conjunction with the SG50 National Celebrations, SHATEC is organising The Golden Jubilee SG50 Cook Off to encourage the sharing and showcase of homemade recipes. These are dishes that are strongly associated with Singapore’s food heritage and national identity.

The event also hopes to pay tribute to active agers for contributing and imparting valuable knowledge on traditional flavours; knowledge that has been a strong source of influence on Singapore’s vibrant food culture.

The competition is open to all Singaporeans and Singapore PRs. Participants must sign up as a team of two persons with at least one member aged 50 or above (as of 1 January 2015). Registration is free.

Application forms can be downloaded from the SHATEC website. Each team must submit a complete recipe with short write-up and include a picture of their dish.

SHATEC will provide either US Duck or US Turkey to participants. They will have to use these poultry items as the primary ingredient to create a main course dish infused with flavours that are reminiscent of local traditional food cultures. The dish can contain influences from local cuisines such as Hainanese, Laksa, Rendang and others.

Up to 12 teams will be selected from the registration process with three top prizes available to be won. The top Cook Off winner stands to walk away with up to SGD 2,000 in cash as well as dining vouchers and privileges.
