The Theatre Practice, Singapore’s longest-standing professional bilingual theatre group, presents The Nursery Rhymes Project

The Theatre Practice is dedicated towards exploring new frontiers in art from classics embodying Singapore’s diverse cultural backgrounds, to lauded Chinese musicals and alternative experimental works.

In November, The Theatre Practice will present The Nursery Rhymes Project. This initiative looks to introduce a new generation of Singaporean children to the joys of Mandarin nursery rhymes. The project will feature childhood favourites, traditional folk songs and beloved hits from our children’s musicals. This is a three-part initiative that includes:
• Paint Our Songs (Illustration & Lyrics Book)
• Sing Our Songs (Soundtrack)
• Imagine Our Songs (Touring Performance)

Long-time collaborators Kuo Jian Hong (Artistic Director of The Theatre Practice), Xiaohan (award-winning lyricist) and Julian Wong (Music Director), together with Lee Kow Fong aka Ah Guo (local illustrator), came together as the creative forces behind this project.

The free performance on 5 November “Imagine Our Songs” takes place at 10am and 11.30am. This mini jukebox musical features original short stories, deftly crafted by Xiaohan, and classic nursery rhymes we grew up with, and is set to get everyone to groove and sing along.

Following the launch, The Theatre Practice will bring “Imagine Our Songs” performance to neighbourhoods near you – River Valley (11 Nov), Chong Pang (12 Nov), Bedok and Toa Payoh (18 Nov).
