TripAdvisor’s “Travel Timeline” Feature

By  |  0 Comments

TripAdvisor’s “Travel Timeline” feature allows travellers to document their vacation experiences in a chronological order.

For those who don’t already know, TripAdvisor’s mobile app now offers a new “Travel Timeline” feature, allowing travellers to conveniently log and share their travel experiences in a timeline. The feature automatically creates a timeline of the places travellers have visited and the photos they’ve taken at each location, which can be viewed chronologically or as a route on a map. Travellers can choose to keep their timeline private on their TripAdvisor app, or edit it to share with family and friends.

How Travel Timeline Works

To activate Travel Timeline, simply log on to the TripAdvisor mobile app and opt in to the feature. Once the feature is activated, it will keep a log of the points of interest that the user has visited in a running timeline. This makes it easy for travellers to rate and review hotels, restaurants, or attractions they have visited. The feature also uses the phone’s GPS and motion sensors to predict when the user is visiting somewhere or if they are just passing by. Travel Timeline can be turned off any time.

Some of the key features of Travel Timeline include:

  • Customisable: Users can curate their own timeline and photos.
  • Offline: The feature logs activities without an Internet connection so travellers can avoid data and roaming charges.
  • Private: Each traveller’s timeline and photos remain private to the user unless they choose to share them.
  • Shareable: Users can share a day in their timelines with family and friends.

Travel Timeline is available on the free TripAdvisor mobile app only on iOS.
