Try Something New At Beerfest Asia 2014

By  |  0 Comments

Beerfest Asia 2014 rolls into Singapore again with the usual high quality range of beers, comedy performances and music acts including Killer Queen, Chick Flick, The Australian Beatles, Nevermind Nirvana and the Australian Blues Brothers.

For the second year running, the Beerfest Asia 2014 organisers are looking to tap into a new group of drinkers that get their kicks from harder stuff including whisky, tequila with the Whisky Tent. Wine drinkers aren’t left out as Brown Brothers will be selling their popular Moscato too.

If you are heading to Beerfest 2014 this year, take time to visit the Whisky Tent.

You can expect to see and taste popular whisky favourites from Auchentoshan, Bowmore, Hakushu, Hibiki and Yamazaki as well as American Bourbon brands including Markers’ Mark brought into Singapore by Beam Suntory. Bowmore is introducing their special “The Devil’s Cask”, a 10 year old sherry whisky at the booth with a bottle available at SGD160. The 12, 15, 18 and 25 year old bottles are available as well. Another whisky favourite would be the smooth, slightly smoky Auchentoshan 12 year old available by the bottle for SGD115. The Auchentoshan Three Wood – sweet tasting butterscotch, with raisins, lemon and cinnamon – goes for SGD150 by the bottle.

There’s also a new entrant into the Whisky Tent in the form of Fudoh sake from the Nabedana brewery. The Junmai Daiginjo – a crowd favourite at the trade event today – is dry, fruity and recognised as a “contemporary sake”.

Midori – that (ever) green melon liqueur – has a booth in the Whisky Tent with a new switch. Besides trying out their own cocktails, visitors to the booth are invited to try their hand at “Mixing your Happiness” for SGD12 by mixing your own Midori-based cocktail with ingredients ranging from Cranberry, Pineapple, Apple and Lime juices as well as garnishes such as mint leaves, skittles, gummy bears (yes they had bowls of those) as well as marshmallows.

For those hanging out with the traditional beers, check out new beer Desperados at their booth located in the main Rock Marquee. This is a new tequila flavoured beer, sporting a combination of a full-bodied lager beer with a dash of tequila flavour that provides a distinct taste of light bitterness balanced with refreshing citric notes.

Beerfest Asia 2014 opens from 6pm on Thursday until 1am, Friday and Saturday until 2am and earlier on Sunday from 12pm – 10pm. Each ticket includes a free beer from selected beer exhibitors. Beerfest chips are available at special currency counters throughout the venue and available in $1, $5, $10 and $50 denominations. Use your UOB credit and debits cards to enjoy 5 percent discount with a minimum purchase of SGD 100.
