What makes up a healthy lifestyle?

A healthy lifestyle is important for overall health.

We often think of the prevention of diseases as an abstract concept.

Perhaps it is not easy to connect with what it means to live healthy in order to avoid developing certain diseases. However, it is that keeping a healthy lifestyle can improve people’s health condition and cure certain diseases.

There are three important things that contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

  • Healthy diet
  • Physical activity
  • Eliminating unhealthy habits

Eating healthy food supplies the body with many useful nutrients and elements needed for proper functioning. Healthy food gives us energy and strengthens our vital organs. Through the proper use of food, we can get rid of stress and certain chronic diseases as well as lose excess weight.

With the help of a healthy diet, we import a lot of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fibre and antioxidants that enable our bodies to stay healthy and fight against various diseases such as heart disease, mental disorders, diabetes, leukaemia, cancer and so on.

  • Fish is good for our bodies because it contains selenium, potassium and magnesium, omega 3 – fatty acids and B vitamins that protect the heart and brain and improve their work. In particular, tuna might help prevent various forms of cancer, such as pancreatic cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer. It might also reduce the risk of leukaemia.
  • Eggs are the best source of choline substance, which improves memory in humans. They protect the brain cells.
  • Pumpkin contains fibre and fewer calories. Pumpkin juice is rich in beta-keratin and vitamin E, substances that reduce the risk of asthma and other diseases.

Regular exercise can help you improve your endurance with a recommended duration for each activity lasting about 30 minutes. Increased physical activity is a  safe and reliable “treatment” that can help you have a long and quality life.

Eliminating unhealthy habits will not be the easiest thing to do. However, it might be the first thing to start working on. A significant number of people have started to quit smoking because of the realisation about the bad effects it has on health.

Some tricks to help resist the temptation include not being too strict on yourself and to not get disappointed. Try to identify the trigger that led you to reach for a cigarette or the bottle. Use the information to ensure you are not put in a similar environment for the trigger to take effect.
