NeoAsia launches the MonaLisa Touch, offering Singaporean women a long-term solution to combat menopause-related symptoms.

Hitting menopause need not be a completely dreary experience in this day and age. With new technology and treatments widely available now, women are now empowered to combat their menopause-related symptoms and no longer have to suffer in silence.

According to research by the National University Hospital (NUH), 25 percent of menopausal women in Singapore suffer from one or more symptoms of vaginal atrophy such as vaginal dryness, discharge, itching and pain during intercourse.

To combat these symptoms, regional distributor of skincare, medical aesthetic equipment and medical device products, NeoAsia, has recently launched its new revolutionary laser treatment – the MonaLisa Touch, in Singapore. Developed by DEKA, the MonaLisa Touch utilises advanced photo-rejuvenation techniques to stimulate tissues without any trauma.

Firstly, vaginal atrophy is a pathologic condition of the vaginal tissue and occurs in women during menopause due to a drop in oestrogen levels. According to Dr Stefano Salvatore, Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Vita-Salute University, San Raffaele Hospital in Italy, the symptoms associated with vaginal atrophy can have a detrimental effect on the quality of life, self-esteem and sexual functions of women.

What MonaLisa Touch does is to provide a minimally invasive and painless therapy to help restore the vaginal mucosa naturally. A 360 degree applicator is inserted into the vagina to allow a homogenous delivery of laser energy all over the vaginal channel. With just one session, the treatment helps to restore the vaginal channel’s premenopausal structure in terms of hydration, trophism, tone, and sensitivity.

The laser treatment is quick (less than 5 minutes) and painless, with no downtime or anesthesia required. The treatment is suitable for pre- and post-menopause, post-cancer patients, or other vaginal atrophy conditions, as well as vaginal tightening needs.
