Manulife Push for Longevity: Live Better, Not Just Longer

By  |  0 Comments

Forget about simply adding years to your life. The real challenge, especially here in Asia, is adding quality, resilience, and purpose. Manulife just dropped an enhanced programme to help you do exactly that.

Asia is ageing, fast.

A recent survey by Manulife found a fascinating insight: only six percent of people actually wished for a longer lifespan. The vast majority? They want to be physically, mentally, and socially active, financially independent, and to age gracefully.

It’s the shift from quantity to quality that’s driving Manulife’s new approach to health and finance.

This focus was front and centre at Manulife’s first-ever Longevity Symposium in Asia. The event, which brought together over a thousand attendees, experts, and industry leaders, was all about tackling the region’s biggest challenge: how to truly live better for longer.

“Our role goes far beyond paying claims or managing risks,” said Benoit Meslet, President and CEO of Manulife Singapore. “We have a responsibility to improve lives—not just by protecting our customers, but by empowering them to make better decisions for their health and financial future.”

The MOVE is On: A Holistic Approach to Life

The main highlight of the symposium was the launch of the enhanced ManulifeMOVE, the company’s flagship lifestyle programme.

The old version was about promoting physical activity. The new, revamped platform is far more ambitious. It’s now built around six key pillars to support your holistic well-being:

  • Healthcare
  • Home & Nursing Care
  • Fitness & Wellness
  • Lifestyle Privileges
  • Legacy Planning Services
  • Community Engagement

In other words, it’s designed to help you navigate every major life milestone, whether that is starting your career to becoming a parent, managing chronic illness, or planning your legacy.

According to Harshal Shah, Chief Marketing & Experience Design Officer, Manulife Asia, “Insurance is no longer just about protecting people financially after something happens. It’s about helping them stay prepared for life’s changes. With ManulifeMOVE, we’re giving customers the power to take charge of their health and financial choices.”

Innovation is Key to an Ageing Asia

The Longevity Symposium wasn’t just about internal programmes; it was about sparking wider change.

Manulife, alongside UpLink (the World Economic Forum’s innovation initiative), announced the ten winners of the ‘Innovating for Asia’s Demographic Future Challenge’. These winning ventures are tackling real-world problems with breakthrough solutions, including:

  • Digital tools to enhance home safety and caregiving for older adults.
  • AI-powered platforms to modernise primary healthcare.
  • Wearable rehabilitation solutions for post-surgery recovery.

These innovators, who will join UpLink’s ecosystem for networking and scaling , are a clear sign that the future of ageing well lies in a mix of insurance, finance, and cutting-edge technology.

Steve Finch, President and CEO of Manulife Asia, summarises, “We see a clear opportunity to help close the gap between aspiration and action. Through platforms like the Longevity Symposium and the UpLink challenge, we’re working with partners to deliver practical, preventive solutions that help people live well, for longer.”

In short: the conversation has shifted. It’s time to stop worrying about getting old and start planning for a longer, more resilient, and purposeful life.
