Smart Wellness Programme Expands Free Preventive Healthcare for Seniors in Singapore
With one in four Singaporeans set to be aged 65 and above by 2030, ageing presents a range of challenges—from managing chronic conditions to navigating digital healthcare systems.
Many seniors delay seeking preventive healthcare due to cost, distance, or uncertainty, with a 2024 AIA survey showing that three in ten have postponed treatment for these reasons.
To address these concerns, Nunchi Marine has renewed its partnership with RSVP Singapore for the second year of the Smart Wellness Programme, bringing free, community-based healthcare services directly to seniors.
Bringing Healthcare Closer to Seniors
“This renewal is more than a corporate social responsibility initiative,” said Henry Song, CEO of Nunchi Marine. “It’s a commitment to be present, engaged, and trusted in the lives of our seniors. We want to make healthcare accessible and proactive before issues become urgent.”
In its second year, the Smart Wellness Programme will expand to 36 mobile clinic sessions, running from June 2025 to May 2026, with a goal of serving 2,000 seniors, aligning with Healthier SG objectives.
Each session will provide tailored preventive healthcare, including:
- Health talks covering nutrition and vaccination awareness
- Vitals monitoring via the 1doc app
- Bone density and liver screenings
- Light exercise sessions promoting mobility and holistic wellness
The services offered will be adjusted based on the needs of each community location.
Creating a Supportive Environment for Seniors
Unlike traditional healthcare models, the Smart Wellness Programme delivers medical support directly within neighbourhood spaces familiar to seniors, eliminating barriers of cost, distance, and complexity. This approach encourages seniors to take proactive steps toward their health before issues become critical.
Each clinic is staffed by RSVP-trained Health Advocates, many of whom are seniors themselves. Acting as bridges between healthcare professionals and attendees, they help demystify medical processes, ensuring participants leave with both results and confidence in their next steps.
“We’re heartened by the passion of our RSVP Health Advocates,” shared Ms. Edna Claudine Leong, Executive Director of RSVP Singapore. “Together with our medical partner, 1doc, and Nunchi Marine, we look forward to expanding this meaningful initiative to reach even more seniors.”
Reaching More Communities in 2025
Since its launch, the Smart Wellness Programme has supported 703 seniors, training over 60 Health Advocates. Recent sessions in Boundary Ville RN, Majestic, The Saturday Movement, and NTUC Health AAC (Bukit Merah) have reached more than 200 seniors.
Upcoming events in July will include a Health Carnival with Keat Hong CC, with additional sessions planned at Serangoon CC, Kembangan Chai Chee, Lucky Haven at Siglap, and Yong En Care Centre. The initiative aims to engage 350 to 370 seniors from April to July.
