Rakuten Brings Its First-Ever Japan Gourmet Festival To Singapore
Japan’s number one online shopping mall, Rakuten, presents over 100 specialty products from Japan at the newly-opened Japanese-themed WAttention Plaza.
Japanese food lovers are in for a real treat from now till 4 December 2014, as Rakuten brings its renowned food festival, Rakuten Japan Gourmet Festival to Singapore for the first time.
The food festival will feature over 100 types of premium seafood, confectioneries, desserts and many other delectable delights from places like Hokkaido, Yokohama, Tokyo, Kyoto and Shizuoka. Participants of this much anticipated event include 11 award-winning merchants from Rakuten Ichiban in Japan, the country’s largest e-commerce platform.
Some gastronomical highlights of the food festival include:
Tsukiji Ryotei Takewaka – Tuna and Seafood Chirashi (S$16)
Also known as the Japanese Seafood Parfait, this aesthetically-pleasing cup of chirashi is made with premium Japanese rice, topped with ikura (salmon roe), salmon and tuna belly. The freshness of the seafood is guaranteed as Tsukiji Ryotei Takewaka sources its products directly from Tokyo’s renowned Tsukiji market. Besides the tuna and seafood chirashi, visitors can also select from a variety of other combinations including eel and salmon roe don (S$16) and more.
Seafood Factory Four Seasons of Rebun Island – Salmon Wrapped in Kelp (S$16-28)
Known for its original culinary creations made from local ocean produce, Seafood Factory Four Seasons of Rebun Island’s best-selling product is its unique salmon wrapped in kelp. If you’re not a sushi lover, this product is perfect for you as it comes with no rice – just grilled premium salmon wrapped with kelp. The product can also be stored at room temperature, making it a convenient and nutritious snack for all ages.
Tomita Melon House – Melon Smoothie with Soft Serve (S$8)
