Luzerne’s SG60 Diamond Collection: Porcelain with Purpose

By  |  0 Comments

Sixty years of nationhood, six decades of resilience, and one commemorative collection to tell the tale — through porcelain and philanthropy

Singapore’s story has been told through textbooks and television specials. Now, it’s being immortalised through tableware. To mark the country’s sixtieth year of independence, homegrown ceramic brand Luzerne unveils the SG60 Diamond Collection — an artfully handcrafted range of plates and cups that traces milestones in the nation’s journey.

But this isn’t just a design showcase.

With sixty limited-edition Diamond Plates donated to raise SGD 600,000 for mental health causes, the SG60 Diamond Collection places compassion at its core.

From Shophouse Streets to Studio Art

Created in partnership with Associate Professor Ng Woon Lam — a Dolphin Fellowship recipient of the American Watercolour Society — each design draws from Professor Ng’s signature style, merging Chinese calligraphy-inspired strokes with Taiji philosophy to reflect movement, balance, and emotional depth.

Each decade of progress is illustrated through evocative imagery across:

  • The SG60 Singapura Plate — six 30-centimetre designs
  • The SG60 Singapura Six-Plate Set — a 16-centimetre series
  • The SG60 Kopi Set — six espresso cups and saucers

Pre-order starts from 14 July 2025.

All six visual narratives culminate in the SG60 Diamond Plate — a 50-centimetre masterwork uniting each design in a powerful collage of progress. Only sixty of these will be released, and none will be sold — they will be donated directly to charity.

The SG60 Diamond Plate carries more than artistic merit. Luzerne will donate all sixty pieces to raise funds for mental health, collaborating with more than twenty social service agencies. Ten plates will be auctioned via Community Chest Singapore, supporting beneficiaries including:

  • President’s Challenge
  • The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund
  • Samaritans of Singapore
  • Limitless Singapore

Fundraising will be conducted online at www.luzerne.com/sg60.

With minimum donations starting at SGD 2,688 per plate, top donors will receive a serialised plate in a premium gift box, complete with a custom-made stand.

Elaine Lek, Chief Executive Officer of Luzerne and co-founder of the PleaseStay. Movement, shared, “Speaking up on youth mental health and suicide prevention has never been a choice — it is a responsibility I carry. Through this initiative, I hope we can break the stigma and support those struggling silently, with no prejudice.”

More Than Tableware

Having weathered seventy-five years, Luzerne stands as a testament to Singaporean grit. From its 800-strong team of artisans in Dehua — known as The World Porcelain City — Luzerne produces up to twenty-eight million pieces annually. Its decision to go bone ash-free across its full range reflects a bold, sustainability-driven stance unique among ceramic brands globally.

From airlines to restaurants across sixty-six countries, Luzerne’s commitment to craftsmanship and cultural integrity resonates far beyond porcelain.
