Celebrate Your Passion For Food At Singapore Takeout

Over this coming weekend and the next, Singaporean foodies can sample a range of mouth-watering delicacies from all over the world at Singapore Takeout.

Foodies will be delighted to know that Singapore Takeout is happening from 27 to 29 November and 4 to 6 December, offering visitors a taste of novel dishes that have travelled the world. Paying homage to Singapore’s culinary talents, Singapore Takeout is all about Singapore’s heritage cuisine with a contemporary twist. More than 10 local chefs will prepare their own creative interpretations of select dishes inspired by familiar local favourites such as Kaya Toast, Chilli Crab, Chicken Rice and Laksa. Prices for each dish will range from SGD 2 to SGD 15.

In addition, foodies can head over to Singapore: Inside Out (just a stone’s throw away from Singapore Takeout) in between bites to enjoy an immersive celebration of Singapore’s creative talents. Having toured Beijing, London and New York, this travelling showcase will open from 27 to 6 December for a homecoming run. Set within a lattice of scaffolding, audiences can look forward to interactive food art installations, theatrical encounters and live music sessions, and explore Singapore’s creative culture today. Be sure to check out Janice Wong’s edible art installation featuring lollipop ceilings, gumdrop walls and chocolate-coated poles that explore the different flavours of Singapore.

Festive Year-End Golden Jubilee Activities

Besides the creative and cultural showcases at Singapore: Inside Out and Singapore Takeout, festive year-end activities are also available for international visitors and locals to participate in. These activities include:

  • National Gallery Singapore opening: Housing the world’s largest collection of modern Southeast Asian art in the historic buildings of the former Supreme Court and City Hall, the National Gallery Singapore has recently opened on 24 November 2015. To commemorate its opening, special activities including free entry to its galleries, a family festival at the Padang, tours, talks and panel discussions will be available. Admission is free.
  • Christmas Events: This festive season, Christmas Wonderland returns to Gardens by the Bay and will feature magnificent light sculptures, a Christmas market offering unique gift ideas, an ice skating rink and snow playground, as well as a floral display in the Flower Dome complete with an 11-metre-tall Christmas Pyramid decked with toys as its centrepiece. The event will take place from 28 November 2015 to 3 January 2016.
  • Marina Bay Countdown: The annual Marina Bay Singapore Countdown on New Year’s Eve will include festivities such as live performances, carnivals and waterfront bazaars, with the event culminating in a spectacular fireworks display. The countdown will take place on 31 December 2015. Admission is free.
