What You Should Eat for Stronger Nails and Thicker Hair

By  |  0 Comments

Tired of brittle nails and thin hair? Find out how your diet can help with this.

For healthy skin and glowing hair, nutritionists recommend adding more healthy foods to your diet. If you want to look good on the outside, it’s about learning how to take care of yourself on the inside.

Here is a list of foods to add to your diet for healthier hair and nails:

  1. Red Meat

Protein and iron are important for healthy nails and hair. However, it’s important to eat in moderation as red meat can lead to diseases such as heart attack, stroke and diabetes. Since red meat is rich in saturated fat, you may want to look for leaner cuts instead. You can always ask help from your doctor if you are looking to increase iron and protein intake.

  1. Vitamin A

Sebum is required to have healthy hair. To help with sebum production, you can eat foods rich in vitamin A. Foods rich in Vitamin A include mangoes, apricots, sweet potatoes, spinach and oatmeal.

  1. Salmon

Salmon strengthens your nail, and rejuvenates your bones at the same time. If you think your nails are dry and darkened, you may want to eat foods rich in B12.

  1. Greens

Of course, green leafy vegetables would definitely make the list! Eat more greens since they are filled with multiple vitamins including A, B, C, E, K and iron. This should not be difficult since you can always create your own dishes filled with spinach, broccoli, lettuce, kale and collards.

  1. Almonds

These healthy treats are filled with magnesium that is good for keeping your nails and hair healthy. Magnesium also helps decrease stress. Eating almonds regularly reduces the probability of hair loss in the future.

If you think your hair just needs a good shampoo, think again. You may want to switch your diet to a healthier one to maintain its natural shine. Same thing goes for your nails; it takes more than a day at the spa to keep them healthy.
