Cancer is responsible for almost 25 percent of deaths in Singapore, making it the country’s top killer. Each year, more than 10,000 people in Singapore are diagnosed with cancer.

The annual Run For Hope event is organised by Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Regent Singapore and National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS).  The event seeks to raise funds for the National Cancer Centre Research Fund. This Fund provides financial support for clinical research projects that have been beneficial in developing medical solutions that can help increase cancer survival rates. According to the organisers, about S$20 million has been channelled to 60 cancer research projects since 2010.

TV host Stephanie Carrington, actor Paul Foster, national swimmer Danny Yeo and three Team Singapore athletes, equestrian Abigail Cheng, wakeboarder Sasha Christian and water-skier Mark Leong will be supporting the event.

Registration is currently open for Run For Hope 2017.  The event  features two categories (10km and 3.5km) and takes place at the Bayfront Event Space.  Interested runners can sign up or make online donations to the National Cancer Centre Research Fund at the Run for Hope website.

Early bird registration for the run closes on 31 October and registration ends early-February 2017.
