13 Singapore buildings and landmarks to illuminate the city skyline red in support of World Heart Day

World Heart Day takes place on 29 September. This is a global initiative that looks to educate and motivate people to take care of their hearts. The colour red depicts heart heart and also a warning to look out for red flags of cardiovascular disease.

In Singapore, 4.5 percent of Singaporeans live with heart failure. This is compared to 1 – 2 percent in the United States and Europe. Heart failure puts a significant strain on the body and patients are more vulnerable to infections and viruses.

The Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF) has partnered with 13 famous buildings and landmarks in Singapore to illuminate the city skyline in red to mark World Heart Day. This activity will take place from 29 September to 3 October 2021.

For the first time this year, the Singapore Sports Hub, orchardgateway and SGH Museum (Bowyer Block) will be participating in the Go Red for World Heart Day Light Up. Other buildings and landmarks involved include Gardens by the Bay, Marina Square, Millenia Tower & Centennial Tower, OCBC Centre, Ocean Financial Centre, One Raffles Place, Republic Plaza, Singapore Flyer, The Fullerton Hotel and Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall.

National Heart Week and World Heart Day 2021

Apart from the skyline light up, SHF is also currently running the virtual National Heart Week and World Heart Day 2021 event. The event features healthcare experts sharing about topics such as hypertension and salt intake, gestational hypertension and other cardiovascular disease.

Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor contest and giveaway

As part of this activity and with a focus on hypertension, SHF is giving away 3 Automatic Blood Pressure Monitors in a contest. The contest will take place from 29 September to 3 October 2021, 11:59 pm. Three lucky winners will be announced on 8 October on SHF’s Facebook and Instagram pages.

To take part in the giveaway contest, you will simply need to:

  • Take a photo of one of the participating red-lit buildings or landmarks with a finger heart
