M1 Supports The Smart HDB Home Programme

Elderly Care and Utilities Management services to be made available from as low as S$6.99 a month, with no upfront costs.

M1 has just launched its Elderly Care and Utilities Management services, with the two services being made available to 3,200 eligible Yuhua households as part of the Housing & Development Board’s (HDB) programme to introduce smart living in existing townships.

The Elderly Care service helps caregivers remotely monitor the safety of their vulnerable elderly family members at home. The monitoring is made possible through the use of activity sensors that are strategically positioned in the flat to track the movement of the senior. When there’s a lack of activity (within a pre-set period) or activity is occurring at abnormal intervals, a text message alert will be sent to the caregiver, prompting the caregiver to check on the senior or activate emergency services.

As for M1’s Utilities Management service, it is an offering by the company to help households monitor their energy and water usage, and that includes the power consumption of individual household appliances. This enables the household to better understand, review and optimise its utilities usage, to reduce its utilities bill and carbon footprint.

“The Smart HDB Home programme will be critical in driving adoption of smart home technology in public housing, a key segment if Singapore is to achieve its goal of becoming the world’s first Smart Nation. We are pleased to support HDB and will work to develop and introduce more innovative smart home services to benefit households in HDB townships,” said Mr Willis Sim, Chief Product Development & Corporate Solutions Officer, M1.
