Philips Drops its Latest Robot Vacuum
Like it or not, the robot vacuum is becoming more pervasive, and is getting better at automated cleaning. The SmartPro Active Robot vacuum cleaner (FC8820/01) is the latest entry from Philips.
The SmartPro Active is equipped with a myriad of sensors to better the cleaning process. The Smart Detection System uses up to 22 sensors to process information and devise an optimal cleaning routine. In addition, six infrared sensors helps it avoid obstacles.
To maximise effectiveness, it has a special dust sensor to recognise areas where there is more dust, and spends more time there. It also sports a turbo suction mode for a deeper clean. The three-step cleaning system includes a dry mopping feature as well as a movable nozzle to hug the floor for a more thorough vacuum. You can also choose between four cleaning modes (zig-zag, random, spiral, wall-hugging) to adapt to the layout of your home. In addition you can set a weekly schedule and it will clean your house even if you are away, which makes it great for short holidays.
The SmartPro Active also comes with a virtual wall accessory, which creates an invisible barrier (approximately 2 meters) that the robot cannot cross – great for cable-heavy areas or confining the vacuum within a specific area of the house. It also has a nifty clapping function that helps you locate your vacuum if you need to know where it is.
The Philips SmartPro Active Robot vacuum cleaner FC8820/01 is priced at S$899 and is available at major department stores, leading electronics stores and selected authorised dealers.
