Singapore’s First Tennis and Pickleball Festival
In an exciting first, Singapore’s Play! Tennis and Play! Pickle clubs are hosting the inaugural Tennis and Pickleball Festival. This unique event invites racket sports enthusiasts, beginners, and the curious to experience the thrill of tennis and pickleball in a comfortable indoor setting, ensuring fun regardless of the weather.
The festival will take place on February 17, from 9am to 12pm, at the indoor courts of Play! Tennis located at Red Quarters in Kallang. The event promises a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where participants can get a taste of both sports under the guidance of expert coaches.
Open to adults and children over the age of 5, the festival offers an opportunity to pick up a racket or paddle, learn from experienced coaches, improve your game, and connect with fellow racket sports fans in a social setting.
In a playful twist, participants can vote for their preferred sport after trying both tennis and pickleball. Prizes from Play! Tennis await some lucky participants who choose the ‘winning’ sport. However, the event emphasizes that both sports have their unique merits and are suitable for players with different preferences and varying skill and fitness levels.
Darren Teo, the founder of Play! Tennis and Play! Pickle, and a seasoned player and coach with over 15 years of experience, shares his perspective. “Tennis has been around much longer than pickleball, a relatively new sport. They’ve often been compared due to their similarities. At our festival, we aim to see which sport is more popular. But the real winners are the players who show up to learn, play, and socialise, regardless of their sport preference. Our goal is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle and build a community of tennis and pickleball enthusiasts.”
