Singtel Launches New Communications App – Wavee
Singtel’s new next-generation IP-based communications app allows users to make seamless high-quality voice and video calls as well as send instant messages.
Singtel’s new app Wavee, promises users a seamless multimedia experience coupled with fun social interaction features, with Wavee, users can:
- Make high quality voice, VoIP and video calls, send instant messages and SMSes
- Set up chat groups
- Attach photos, videos, sketches, audio files and documents to messages
- Share a location– either their current location or a place on the map
- Multi-task – sending messages and files while on a voice call
Users can enjoy high-quality calls even at locations with varying network conditions as Wavee is able to detect the strength of each user’s network and optimise the call quality for a better experience. Video calls will be equipped with this function soon. As the app is hosted on a local telco network, customers are provided with an additional layer of quality assurance. Users can enjoy unlimited voice calls as long as they are on data or WiFi connection.
Android users can opt to integrate SMSes into their Wavee message inbox and can direct all SMSes to the app when they choose Wavee as their default messaging app, saving users the trouble of having to toggle between the two. Singtel iPhone users will soon be able to enjoy this feature, enabling friends on both platforms to chat using one central inbox.
Do also look out for two new app updates that will be available soon. At launch, both caller and receiver must have the app to enjoy the free calls. A new feature that will be available in the second half of 2015 will allow calls from Wavee to any local number. To add in to the fun, the range of stickers available will soon increase too, with more locally themed sticker sets designed by local designers and design students.
The app is supported on all devices equipped with Android 4.1 and above, and iOS 7 and above, and is available to be downloaded for free on the Android Google Play Store and Apple App Store worldwide. From now till 9 July 2015, all local data charges for Wavee usage on Singtel prepaid and postpaid lines will be waived.
