A Smartphone with a slim camera VIBE

Most of us are aware that as technology advances, we’re able to make things smaller. We’ve also come to a point where the ultra slim compact camera that we used to lust after, can also double up as a phone; sort of.

The VIBE Shot is first and foremost, a smartphone, but it’s designed to both look like, and work like a point-and-shoot camera – and that means having the essential buttons in all the familiar places, especially the dedicated shutter button that also doubles up as an instant-on switch to launch the camera app instantly.

It boasts a full aluminium outer frame that outlines a 5-inch, Full-HD display, and is packed between two plates of Corning Gorilla glass. The VIBE Shot measures only 7.6mm thick, and will slide easily into any pocket without causing unsightly bulges. Under the hood, the VIBE Shot runs Android 5.1 and is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 1.7GHz octo-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a 32GB of built-in storage that is expandable up to 128GB through the microSD card slot.

Lenovo claims the VIBE Shot to be twice as fast as a conventional autofocus, thanks to an on-board infrared auto-focusing system. A tri-colour LED flash helps render more realistic skin tones, while the 16-megapixel BSI (Back Side Illuminated) sensor offers improved low-light performance and clarity in dimly lit conditions. To further reduce blur images due to camera shake, the VIBE Shot has an optical image stabilisation (OIS) built in.

At the flick of a switch, you can easily toggle between the Auto and Pro modes of the camera. Auto Mode boasts some helpful features, such as Smart Composition, automatic scene detection, as well as an onscreen “point & shoot” guide. In Pro mode, you are able to manually control aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings. The VIBE Shot also features a panoramic selfie function that lets you take three selfies with the 8-megapixel front facing camera, and turn them into a panoramic picture.
