A World Without Keys?

By  |  0 Comments

Volvoplans to become the world’s first car manufacturer to offer cars without keys from 2017.

The real deal about “Keyless” means that Volvo customers will soon be able to do everything that a physical key does from locking to unlocking the doors or igniting the engine of a car, via the usage of a Volvo application on their mobile phones.

This innovative Bluetooth-enabled digital key technology, a world’s first, will replace the physical car key and thus offer drivers more flexibility and possible benefits.  This new technology will also offer customers the possibility to receive more than one digital key on their app allowing them to access different Volvo cars in different locations – according to their changing mobility needs.

With this technology, potential opportunities for car sharing may soon open up, whereby car owners will be able to share digital keys with their family members or colleagues through mobile phones. Car rental companies may also operate on a digital key system where clients can have ease of access to a rented vehicle anywhere in the world via booking, with the digital information readily available on their mobile phones.
