EOS M10: Canon’s Smallest Mirrorless Camera

By  |  0 Comments

Finding the right middle ground between image quality and portability is an ongoing question for camera makers – Canon’s EOS M10 is a certainly a decent stab at this.

Chic and lightweight – approximately 301g – the M10 is clearly designed with casual, social media users in mind. Camera operation is built around the 3-inch touchscreen, which enables quick, direct access by allowing users to change settings such as shutter speed and aperture via their fingertips.

It’s also built for self portraits: if you angle the LCD screen 180 degrees, it activates a shortcut option to turn on self-portrait mode, which enables adjustments optimised for selfies.

In addition, the Creative Assist feature lets users easily make adjustments via sliders that manipulate settings like aperture and exposure. They’ll be able see the effects in real time, creating a keener appreciation for photography through creative experimentation.

While designed with the casual user in mind, the M10 is decked out with the good hardware: the latest and fastest Canon DIGIC 6 processor, a 18.0 megapixel CMOS sensor and a hybrid autofocus system (Phase-difference and contrast).

Available in black and white, you can also dress up the M10 with compatible jackets available in a range colours such as Navy, Pink and Aqua. At launch, the EOS M10 will come bundled with a complimentary and limited edition jacket in Border.

The camera comes bundled with a EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens (S$749) – the lightest zoom lens in their range weighing in at 130g. It also sports a silent motor, which makes it perfect for movie recording. A second bundle comes with an additional EF-M55-200mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM lens for telephoto coverage (S$899), while the third includes the aforementioned two and a EF-M22mm f/2 STM pancake lens (S$1,099).
