Good oral care practices recommended by Pearlie White

By  |  0 Comments

The pandemic has altered our way of life including our eating habits with many people eating more often due to WFH arrangements or avoiding crowded places. These practices pose a risk to oral health because more food intake creates increased acidity in the mouth. On top of that, improper brushing and flossing in between meals can cause dental issues.

Brushing helps to remove the sticky film known as plaque that sticks on teeth over time. Plaque develops from leftover food particles. The bacteria in your mouth thrive on these foods, producing acids that damage teeth and gums. This causes tooth decay and tooth sensitivity.

Plaque that is not removed can eventually harden and become deposits known as tartar, causing ugly stains on your teeth. If left untreated, gum tissues can get swollen and inflamed, leading to gingivitis, an early stage of gum disease.

As we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic, Pearlie White is here to help Singaporeans maintain good oral health and oral care practices every day.

1) Brush gently at least twice a day, with special attention to the gum line and use a fluoride toothpaste, for example, Advanced Gum Health Enhanced Fluoride and Advanced Sensitive Enhanced Fluoride. All Pearlie White toothpastes do not contain harmful chemicals such as SLS, Parabens, Triclosan, Titanium Dioxide, Artificial Colouring, Polyethylene Glycol (PEG), Propylene Glycol (PPG), Alcohol Diethylene Glycol (DEG), Mineral Oils, Retinol, Saccharin and Peroxide.

2) Floss at least once a day. Flossing helps to remove plaque from the areas between your teeth that brushing alone cannot reach. It also helps to stimulate your gums, decreasing the risk of gum disease and preventing bad breath caused by food particles caught between your teeth. Use a floss, for example, FlossCare™ Plus PTFE Mint Floss made from shred-resistant fibre that slides easily between teeth and is gentle on the gums. It also has added antibacterial properties, a gentle whitening ingredient, fluoride, and a refreshing mint flavour.

3) Use a mouthwash, for example, Fluorinze Antibacterial Fluoride Mouth Rinse that is free from harsh ingredients such as SLS, Paraben and Saccharin. It is gentle and safe for everyday use, freshens up your breath, destroys plaque-causing bacteria, relieves tooth sensitivity and strengthens your tooth enamel and enhanced with added ingredients like Xylitol and Thymol to help fight bacteria that causes bad breath, plaque and cavities.

4) Use a soft-bristled toothbrush, for example, BrushCare Professional Regular Soft that has a small and compact head to reach far back and tight areas in the mouth with multiple non-slip grip areas on the handle for better control.

Staying healthy during the pandemic doesn’t just mean avoiding infection with COVID-19. Keeping up with routine oral care is a crucial part of overall health. Therefore, we feel it is our duty to inform and educate Singaporeans on maintaining good oral health and provide them with good quality and innovative oral care products in such times.
