Mi Note Hits the Streets with Uber
The new flagship Xiaomi Mi Note hits town in a big way this week with Xiaomi sticking to its formula of producing quality phones at reasonable prices. What’s more, they have an interesting partnership with Uber to deliver the phone to you upon order.
Both companies announced a unique on-demand delivery partnership in Southeast Asia, a first-of-its-kind collaboration in which Uber riders in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur (other countries to be announced) will be able to order the new Mi Note through an exclusive pre-launch flash sale via the Uber app on July 27 (the Mi Note goes on sale on July 28 on Mi.com).
To order a Mi Note via this pre-launch offer is like calling for an Uber. Open the app and tap on the Xiaomi follows the exact same process as calling for an Uber — users simply open the Uber app, use the slider at the bottom of the screen to select “Xiaomi” and tap request. Payment will be charged directly to the credit card tied to a rider’s Uber account and a Uber driver will swing over with a Mi Note in a manner of minutes.
The Xiaomi Mi Note features a top tier Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM. There’s no microSD slot, but it packs 64GB of internal storage, which is arguably the bare minimum considering that the phone was designed to be a multimedia powerhouse.
The Mi Note packs a quality, 5.7-inch, 1080p IPS display, as well as ESS DAC and a dual stage amplifier for Hi-Fi grade sound – both audio and visual aspects of the phone are excellent.
The same could be said for the cameras: the 13-megapixel rear camera features a OIS-equipped Sony sensor and a 4-megapixel front camera with a 2μm pixel size sensor to let more light in.
The beautifully made phone features a aluminum frame and curved glass back, and is no thicker than 6.95mm. For S$569, the Mi Note is certainly worth a look, and best of all you can always get it in minutes of asking come Monday 27.
