Samsung’s A-Team of Slim Smartphones
Need more choices for a mid-priced smartphone? You’re just in time for Samsung’s 2016 refresh of their Galaxy A series.
The 2016 iteration also comes in three variants: the 4.7-inch A3 4G, the 5.2-inch A5 4G+, and the 5.5-inch A7 4G+.
The Galaxy A series certainly doesn’t skimp on the wow factor. Compact and super slim (thickest phone is 7.3mm), these reasonably priced smartphones feature premium aesthetics in the form of a glass and metal unibody, as well as a 2.7mm super narrow bezel for a really smart-looking facade.
For the money you also get a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Furthermore, the rear camera on the A5 and A7 comes with an optical image stabiliser to minimise image blur.
Other helpful amenities include a dual SIM feature: the A3 gets a hybrid SIM slot in which the second slot can be used to fit either a second SIM card or a microSD card (up to 128GB), while the A5 and A7 both get dual SIM slots as well as a dedicated microSD slot.
The new Galaxy A3 is now available while the A5 and A7 will be available from 30 January 2016. While stocks last, A3 will be bundled with a complimentary 32GB Samsung microSD EVO.

From 23 January, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 4G+ will be available in Pink Gold, to add to its current selection of Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, White Pearl and Silver Titanium. It will be available in 32GB and 64GB configurations, and at S$988 and S$1,088 respectively.
Samsung’s popular Gear S2 smartwatch is now available in a ‘classic’ edition of two colours: one encased in 18K Rose Gold and another in Platinum. Beginning February, you can purchase the Gear S2 classic in Rose Gold with an ivory white genuine leather band, or in Platinum with a black genuine leather band. (Update: retail price, S$698.
