An Automatic Foldable Mobility Scooter – A First In Singapore

Falcon Mobility Launches Solax Genie, the first automatic foldable mobility scooter here in Singapore.

Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs) have long been lauded for its usage of improving the lives of the elderly with mobility issues. It enables them to travel longer distances, and makes daily tasks such as grocery shopping or a visit to their neighbouring friends far easier and less painful. Immobility is no longer the constraint it used to be.

But of course, there are always ways to improve the experience. One such improvement is the new Solax Genie, courtesy of Falcon Mobility, who are known for their wide range of mobility solutions.

The Solax Genie is a mobility scooter with a unique feature – it can fold itself up into a more manageable form automatically with a push of a button. Don’t worry, if the battery runs out, you can use a backup Fold/Unfold switch at the back of the scooter.

It’s a simple feature with multiple benefits for both the rider as well as caregivers. First up, being able to fold the scooter makes it easy to carry it around – it weighs just 25kg – especially in places where you can’t really travel around on the scooter. Secondly, the handle bar has been designed to double up as a luggage carrier-style handle to make it easy to pull along. Also, its compact size easily fits in an average-sized trunk of a car, so you can pretty much bring it anywhere.

In the interests of safety, the maximum speed of the Solax Genie is limited to 6km/h, and it can travel up to 15 kilometres in distance in a single charge before it runs out of juice – you can double that distance by opting for a battery upgrade (optional).
