Mandarin Oriental Spas To Offer Guests A ‘Digital Detox’

By  |  0 Comments

Starting from 5 September, Mandarin Oriental will launch a Digital Detox initiative at all its spas worldwide to help guests better manage the stresses from a constantly connected lifestyle.

Are you constantly checking your emails even when you’re out of the office? Or do you often find yourself checking your social media notifications and making sure to respond to them instantly? Well in this day and age, you’re definitely not alone.

According to Jeremy McCarthy, Group Director of Spa and Wellness for Mandarin Oriental, technology has brought us many great advances, but the expectations for instant communication and the increasing pace of change in the world can have a negative impact on our wellbeing.”

To address this, the hotel will launch a Digital Detox initiative at all of its spas as a means to help guests find new ways to manage their relationship with technology and the stress that comes with it.

With the new initiative, guests may book any treatment at a Mandarin Oriental spa to access a range of wellness advice and activities designed to help them disconnect from technology and achieve a healthy, digitally balanced lifestyle.

Upon arrival at the spa, guests are encouraged to surrender their phones to remove all online distractions, and thereafter, access a full range of mindful activities such as journaling, note card writing, colouring, meditation or simply relaxing and enjoying the silence.

To encourage mindfulness and digital disconnection, a selection of curated spa retail offerings ranging from crystals and eye masks to meditation pillows and calming teas and oils will also be made available.

For a fully immersive experience, guests may opt for the Digital Detox Retreat. Designed to provide a calming respite from daily external stressors, the 80-minute experience focuses on grounding both the body and mind through the power of human touch. The treatment includes relaxation in an aromatic bath, followed by a massage.

This September, be sure to drop by any of Mandarin Oriental’s spas to rest your mind and reconnect with yourself (sans the social media updates or work emails).

To further support the new Digital Detox initiative, The Spas at Mandarin Oriental will offer their annual Silent Night event for the holiday season this 14 December 2016. The special silent retreat will remind guests about the importance of taking personal time for reflection, introspection and silence.
