AirAsia plans for expansion in Langkawi as Outrigger Mauritius celebrates their first year with discounts, promotions and Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur experiments with electric cars

AirAsia named Langkawi as the airline’s upcoming international base

This was announced at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2015 by the airline’s group CEO, Tony Fernandes. This move will help contribute positively to tourist traffic to Langkawi.

He shared: “We are very excited about this announcement. We plan to put five planes in Langkawi and generate approximately one million to 1.5 million passengers through Langkawi very quickly.”

AirAsia currently operates 98 flights weekly from Langkawi across three routes. This will be the low-cost carrier’s sixth international hub in Malaysia after Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Kuching and Penang.

Outrigger Mauritius Announces ‘Better Than Ever’ First Anniversary Package

The Outrigger Mauritius Beach Resort has launched a “Better Than Ever” rate and six dining and spa enhancements to celebrate its first anniversary.

The “Better Than Ever” programme includes a guaranteed Best Available Rate for a minimum of three-night stays between 1 and 30 April 2015. This is the lowest available online rate and includes an upgrade from room and breakfast to half-board (includes room, breakfast and dinner).

The “Better Than Ever” rate also entitles guests to a 30-minute spa treatment per person and special gifts on arrival and departure.

Guests that book and stay on 17 April will be invited to join the first anniversary party.

In conjunction with their first anniversary, Outrigger has introduced several new updates to the services and facilities including: new lunch and dinner menus at the beachside Edgewater open-air restaurant; a new light lunch buffet with Indian and Asian live cooking stations at its acclaimed Mercado international restaurant; a new room service menu with many hot food items; breakfast at the Plantation Club including sparkling wine options for Club guests going in style; an expanded menu at the Crab Shack including succulent Soft Shell Crab Tempura with Creole Seasoning, Roasted Corn and Crab Chowder with Zucchini and Cayenne, and Willie’s Crab Cakes with Spicy Mango; as well as eight new spa packages for beauty, health and relaxation, including spa treatments for kids.

Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur to provide electric courtesy cars for guests

Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur will be introducing eco-friendly courtesy Nissan Leaf electric cars with a driver for suite and club room guests.

The courtesy cars will depart daily every two hours between 10am to 4pm, and operates on a first come first served basis. Guests can take the cars to popular destinations and stops including Jalan Bukit Bintang and the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, a popular shopping strip and shopping mall; Kuala Lumpur Tower, where guests can view the city centre from 421 metres above ground, and Central Market, a well-known heritage site and home to the Centre for Malaysian Culture, Heritage, Art & Craft.
