Have you always wanted to clean up your diet and get fit? Here’s how to make wiser food choices to improve your fitness and lifestyle one meal at a time. 

Being healthy requires regular physical exercise and good eating habits. Clean eating should be a gradual lifestyle goal and not an impulsive decision you make overnight. 

What is Clean Eating?

Clean eating isn’t difficult to understand. It involves your decision to eat healthier foods and leave out those which are not as good for the body.

What to Avoid

If you are starting to eat clean, you have to be aware of the healthy foods to take and track the unhealthy foods currently in your diet. Here’s a list of foods you may want to watch out for:

Processed Foods – Forget about the bacon, ham hotdogs and spam—you may have to turn your back on them once you decide to eat healthy. If you can’t completely get them out of your diet, try to lessen the amount until you can get rid of them for good.

Keep in mind that additives and preservatives are not good for the body. Feel free to buy meat from small producers instead. This also includes skipping your favorite fast food meal as every ingredient on it was produced in the factory and created in a lab. Wasn’t food designed to be prepared in the kitchen?

Sugar – This is probably one of the hardest addictions to get rid of. If you find yourself craving for something sweet, load up on fruits instead. Ingesting natural sugar is better than artificial sweeteners. If you need to sweeten something up, you can use natural sweeteners such as organic honey.

White bread and rice – You can still eat your favorite pastries, but control yourself from eating sweet treats all the time. If you love to eat carbs, choose multi grain bread or eat brown, red or black rice instead of white. 

What to Eat

Fruits and Vegetables – This should be obvious since eating more vegetables and fruits can help the body fight diseases and increases your immune system at the same time.

You can whip up fresh fruit juice every morning and snack on your favorite fruit or vegetables during the day to keep you energized.

More Water – You’ve heard about drinking 8-10 glasses a day to keep your body hydrated during the day. If your body is not used to it, you can also switch it up with herbal teas or any fruit-infused water to cleanse your body naturally. You’d eventually find yourself ditching carbonated sodas and sugary drinks in the long run. 

Planning

Clean eating doesn’t only involve making wise decisions when it comes to your diet. You also have to make time to do your groceries and purchase fresh produce as much as you can.

Plan your menu for the week and stock the ingredients in your pantry. If you’re always on the go, prepare a quick lunch and dinner the night before. Label them in your fridge so it’ll be easier for you to know which one to eat during that day.

Planning your menu can save you from eating out or buying food home from the fast food restaurant.

Eating healthy will take and effort on your part. The rewards will be worth the effort.
