Avoid contracting common illnesses by making your immune system stronger

If you are always falling sick, it might be due to a weak immune system. Your immune system protects you from harmful microorganisms that cause you to fall sick easily. Boosting your immune system is beneficial for you and your body. However, it requires commitment and adjustments to your lifestyle in order for you to see results.

Here are several tips on improving your immune system and train your body to combat diseases:

Exercise

Staying active definitely helps to minimise your risks of falling ill. Exercising regularly boosts the immune system by increasing germ-fighting cells and lowering stress hormones. You can always create a workout plan to stay motivated and dedicated.

For beginners, start exercising by going for walks. Aim to walk for 5 days a week with each session lasting for at least 20-30 minutes.

Get some fresh air

You might not want to stay in an enclosed area for too long as viruses travel faster indoors than outdoor. Make sure to open your windows, or walk out of your house once in a while to take a breather. If you’re working in a small office, invest an air purifier to reduce the amount of bacteria and viruses in the room.

Wash your hands

Always wash your hands after visiting the restroom, before and after meals, or even touching any dusty spots.

Bacteria can nest in your hands – when you do not practice proper hygiene – while you work or even prepare food. If your workplace does not have a toilet or pantry nearby, always have a hand sanitizer in your desk or bag to use once in a while. However, do not be too dependent on those items as it is not as effective as compared to washing your hands with soap.

During the process of washing your hands, always make sure to rub your fingers and palms with soap and water for at least 30 seconds. This helps you to get rid of approximately 99% bacteria while leaving a nice smell on your hands.

Eat healthily

Do not buy into fad diets. Besides being unhealthy for your body, fad diets are only a temporary solution to your weight issue. Although it does help you to get rid of the extra pounds, you’ll end up craving for more food and putting those weight back on once you resume your regular eating habits.

Plan your meals ahead in order to have ample supplements of protein, vitamins, and minerals. Always include fruits and vegetables in your diet and drink at least 8 glass of water to keep you hydrated during the day.

Get sufficient sleep

Stay healthy by having plenty of rest and sleep. Sleep helps your body to recuperate, especially when you had a long day at work. Refrain from taking afternoon naps as it affects your sleep quality at night. If you really need to take a nap, keep it between 15 to 20 minutes. At night, sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours to have a stellar boost of energy the next day.

Stay Away from Sugar

Refrain from sweet treats such as candy bars, donuts, and ice cream if you do not want to get sick easily. This also includes fizzy drinks and sugared juice concentrate. Sugar inhibits white blood cells that allow bacteria and virus to grow concurrently .

Staying healthy is definitely not an easy feat. It requires effort, determination, and discipline. Cultivating good health habits do boost your immune system and prevents you from falling sick easily.
