How To Stay On Track In Losing Weight

Happy New Year! With the festive season behind us (well almost), it’s time to focus on your 2015 resolution of losing weight.

Here are some tips to help you stay focused.

1. Track it – A fitness app with a weight tracking function can help you stay on course in losing weight as well as prevent impulsive eating.

2. Grab a healthy snack – If you’re very hungry, you’ll tend to crave for foods with higher fat and sugar content. So keep your blood sugar levels stable with a snack that has a good mix of fibre and/or protein, like an apple.

3. Don’t skip meals – If you starve yourself all day, you’ll end up eating even more. So have your daily meals at the usual timings, so when it comes to dinner you be in control of your hunger and not overeat in compensation for starving yourself the whole day.

4. Use substitutions – Trying to eat a healthier diet doesn’t mean boring foods. Use lettuce leaf instead of bread for wraps, pureed fruit instead of syrups for your pancakes and more, the list is endless!

5. Indulge, but remember moderation is key – You may have feasted like a King through the holidays, now it’s time to go back to being mindful about your food choices how often you indulge.

6. Create your own healthy treats – Find recipes that are healthy and delicious and make them at home.

7. Exercise – Exercising increases the number of calories you burn to help speed up the process of losing weight. Plus, you build muscle, which keeps your metabolism in high gear to burn calories more readily.
