Integrate fitness into your daily routine for a healthier lifestyle

It’s time to prioritise your health and fitness before it’s too late. Taking the first step is always the hardest, especially for those who seldom exercise. Once you get used to exercising, you will be more determined to stay active.

Do not procrastinate or give excuses for not exercising. It will get even harder to start due to a lack of motivation.

Here are some tips to help you take a step closer to achieving good fitness and health:

Think of yourself

Love yourself and go the extra mile to take care of your body. Understand your body’s needs and feed it with nutrients instead of junk food.

Make time for yourself when it comes to your health and fitness. Place exercise at the top of your to-do list. Strive hard to complete at least one workout routine daily. Switching to a better lifestyle includes eating healthy meals and having sufficient sleep. This helps you to build up your immune system, preventing you from contracting illnesses and diseases.

Start slow

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Start from a beginner’s routine and slowly increase the difficulty level. Don’t exert your body too hard as you might end up injuring yourself. Avoid trendy routines as you will get tired of it over time. Start with your favourite sport or physical activity. This will motivate you to work out regularly and slowly cultivate it into a habit.

Another challenge would be to change your eating habits. Get started by looking for healthier alternatives instead of the usual food. If you have a sweet tooth, switch to fresh fruits to satisfy your cravings. Add vegetables into your menu bit by bit until you are used to consuming a wide variety of greens. Cut down on sugary drinks or treats, as well as the amount of carbohydrates (for example: rice and bread) that you eat daily.

Set realistic goals

Don’t expect to lose weight and achieve your dream body within a week of exercising. Different types of exercise produce different results. The rate at which your body accepts the change will also differ. Therefore, set goals that your body can achieve and  do not compare with others. However, vary your exercises if you feel that there’s been no improvement over a period of time.

Feel free to work out longer once your body gets used to the intensity level. Challenge yourself occasionally like increasing your running pace or choose different terrains once in a while.

Reward Yourself

Have a limit on how you push yourself to live a healthy lifestyle. Don’t be too hard on yourself as it requires time and consistency to achieve that ultimate goal. Treat yourself to a sumptuous meal occasionally as reward for keeping to regular workout schedule. Treats can also be a motivation for you to do better next time.
